How much usually is a standard tip given to the dealers in a casino? Do you also need to tip even if you lose or is it not necessary, applying only when you've won much?

I think this is really up to the player. You decide what tip you think is necessary. If you were satisfied with the dealer it's good to make him smile too by giving him a generous tip. People say tipping like you would in a restaurant is enough if you really don't know where to begin.

What if you lost, do you still have to tip? Sucks if you lost a lot and still have to give your dealer something because that's how it goes.

Wait, tip like you would in a restaurant? Isn't that like 15-20% of the bill so you're saying you tip 20% of your win (or loss) ? I think that is too much.

It is still customary to tip even if you lost. A little tip to the dealer would suffice. They will understand since you lost.

Depends, I usually tip more when Im winning.

I think you should tip, win or lose. the dealers are some of the lowest paid in the industry and most of them live on tips. if you've tried living on tips then you would know what I mean.

As a general rule I tip $5/hour... higher if Im winning and lower if the dealer is rude or incompetent.

$5 is quite generous. And I agree on tipping lower if the dealer is stupid or rude. I once had to deal with a rookie dealer and the guy really sucked! I gave him something like $10 after the game but only because I won more than I expected to.

I used to work for tips during college for additional pocket money and see to it that I tip now that I am able to afford it.

On a busy night in a big casino I can imagine how much tips the dealers are getting. Must be a huge pot they take home every night. Now try this at Vegas. Boy I don't think the gamblers there even sleep or stop coming all year round. Must be a good profession!

Yeah, but not all people tip especially in this economy. When I used to waiter, people would give 14-20% tip. My friend recently complained that they would be lucky if they could get a few decent bucks in tips a night. I guess the same is true with Dealers in Vegas.

the only time I dont tip is when the dealer is rude or incompetent. I know what it's like to live on tips. but when you're in the service industry, you need to be courteous and polite all the time, even when it seems that the client is nuts.

I usually set how long I play so I can set aside what I have to tip in advance. But I give the tip to the dealer every hour if my wins and losses are at about the same. When I win big I would thrown in another aside from what I've been giving regularly at intervals.
